This is tourist row. Each booth and the vendors across the alley have trinkets and souvenirs from Egypt and all over Africa. Next time I will spend some time there. |

Across the street from my hostel there was the entrance to a market. |

I ended up chatting with one of the merchants in the market who happened to have the same camera I had. He said to come back in the evening when it gets interesting here. He told me that he was taking all the pictures he could in this old and historic market, because, so he found out, someday there will be a market hall and this old market will be no more. So, night time, when Egyptians come out to shop or socialize in the cooler air, I went. |

I set my camera on his counter and while we were talking, he spoke excellent English, I held the camera down and from time to time pressed the shutter release. |

Nothing ever seems to escape the sharp eyes of kids, and they watched me with critical eyes. |
